MOLDOVA’S ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS PROCEEDS DECREASE BY 5.4%

In April-June, revenues in Moldova’s electronic communications activity (mobile and fixed telephony, mobile and fixed internet access, broadcasting and retransmission of audiovisual programs, etc.) accounted for 1.545 billion lei or by 5.4% less compared with the equivalent period of 2018.

According to the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), this is due to the decline in revenues from sales of fixed telephony (by 17.9% - 116.6 million lei) and mobile telephony (by 3.7% - down to 785.1 million lei).

Meanwhile, the revenues from mobile and fixed internet access services sales increased by 18.2% (to 300.7 million lei) by 5.9% (to 340.4 million lei), respectively.

The highest level of average monthly income per user (ARPU) is registered in the market of fixed Internet access services – 177.8 lei (-1.4%). The figure for dedicated mobile Internet access was 82.4 lei (-0.8%), 75.2 lei (-0.4%) for mobile telephony, 40.8 lei for pay-TV (-3.2%) and 35.5 lei for fixed telephony (-15.3%).
