MARKET PRICE OF MAIB SHARES REACHES A RECORD HEIGHT IN BANK HISTORY – 2808 LEI

The market price of the country’s largest financial institution – Moldova-Agroindbank (MAIB) rose by 178 lei and reached its record high in the bank’s history – 2 808 lei.

A deal with 42 MAIB securities, the nominal value of which was 200 lei has been registered in the Moldovan Stock Exchange early this week. The previous deal with the Bank securities was registered on September 27, when 2 shares had been sold at 2,630 lei each. So far, the record market price of MAIB securities was 2,635 lei, when 17 bank shares were sold on January 31, 2019.

Taking into account the received profit of 2018, totaling 530 million lei, and the good profit, earned by the bank during the three quarter of the current year, the book value of one MAIB share exceeded 4 thousand lei.

Infotag’s dossier: The Moldova-Agroindbank account for more than 30% of Moldova’s banking market. At the beginning of October, it has been year since 41.09% of the bank shares were acquired by a consortium of foreign investors, who established a special company to buy this stake from the state. The consortium includes European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), as well as two investment funds from the USA and Lithuania. According to the rating of the financial and economic magazine “Banks & Finance”, the Moldova-Agroindbank is on the top of reliability and financial stability among the Moldovan banks, as it is the most capitalized bank in the country; its number of clients exceeded 1 million.
