PRESIDENT HOPES RUSSIA WILL PROVIDE CREDIT ON CONDITIONS SIMILAR WITH EBRD AND EIB

02 december, 2019

President Igor Dodon hopes that Russia will open a credit line for Moldova worth US$500 million on the same conditions the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) are proposing.

At the Monday’s press conference after the meeting with Prime Minister Ion Chicu and Speaker of the Parliament Zinaida Greceanii, he said that negotiations with Russia on the credit line will be completed before the end of the year.

“The conditions of credit providing should be as attractive as in case of credits, provided by our Western partners, among which the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB), financing infrastructural projects with up to 1.5% per year in Moldova”, Dodon said.

He stressed that the Moldovan leadership will insist that conditions of financing to be equivalent with those provided by Western partners, as Moldova cannot allow itself to take credits on commercial conditions.
