FOREIGN INVESTORS ENUMERATE MAIN PROBLEMS IN MOLDOVA THAT DEMAND URGENT SOLUTIONS

The main goals the Moldovan authorities should resolve for creating a favorable investment climate are: judiciary reforming, building the supremacy of law, public sector digitization, insurance market de-monopolization, combating of corruption in educational institutions, improvement of public services, creation of a predictable activity environment.

According to the Government, such an opinion was expressed by participants in the sitting of the European Business Association and the American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova (AmCham Moldova), held on Wednesday with participation of Prime Minister Ion Chicu.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA to Moldova Dereck J. Hogan, who is also AmCham Honorable Chairman, stated that the republic should learn from best international practices.

“We see great potential in Moldova. The ICT sphere, tourism and light industry are just several of perspective fields, ready for investments. There are steps the Government may make to strengthen this potential even more. Strong institutions are the basis of a healthy business climate. Thus, we are working together with the Moldovan Government on strengthening the justice system”, he said.

Ion Chicu said that discussions with business environment are vital for the executive power.

“We want that policies we are promoting to meet your needs. We strive to be a reliable and predictable Government. However, to raise the country’s investment opportunities and give impetus to the economic development, we need foreign investments and we know how to get them”, the premier said.

Business people expressed readiness to make a contribution together with the Government in the creation of an environment, favorable for attracting foreign investments in the republic.
