DA PLATFORM CONCERNED ABOUT FORTHCOMING “DUBIOUS ROAD TENDERS”

16 january, 2020

The DA Platform party expressed concern about what is has perceived as “dubious tenders” the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure is preparing to hold.

Deputy Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament Alexandru Slusari, who heads the parliamentary DA faction, stated in this connection that at the very beginning of the new year, Economy Minister Anatol Usatii ordered to urgently organize a tender to select companies for repair of roads because, in his words, there was a direct order made by President Igor Dodon, who demanded that the works must start already at the beginning of March.

“Though the State Highway Administration (AST) had earlier proposed to organize tenders on the principles of transparency with the participation of companies from European Union member countries, Minister Usatii made it clear that he is interested to speed up this process because tender winners are already known and because the President has already planned his visits to road repair sites starting from March. It is noteworthy that sources of works financing are not known yet”, stated Alexandru Slusari indignantly.

In his words, the repair project includes 4 road sections, where the works are estimated at some 640 million lei. Information concerning the forthcoming tenders appeared in the Official Bulletin of State Purchases on January 9-13. But Alexandru Slusari maintains that this is a breach of law because information about the tenders was not published in the European Union’s official journal, as this is demanded by the legislation.

The Deputy Speaker has sent an appeal to the Minister of Economy, demanding public explanations on the question.
