​LAW FOR REDUCING TAX BURDEN FOR RETURNING BILLION TO BE ADOPTED SOON – PRESIDENT

President Igor Dodon stated that the authorities found a mechanism to compensate a part of expenditures on returning the billion not at the expense of citizens, but from other sources.

During his traditional weekly live Q&A communication with citizens, Dodon said that within the next two months a law will be adopted, which will allow reducing the 20-billion-lei tax debt by at least one-fourth – to 5-6 billion.

“If before, up to 600-700 million lei were paid for returning the stolen billion at the expense of citizens, now, we can halve this sum by means of a law which will be adopted soon. This is the first important step, because the money will remain in the budget for paying salaries, pensions, for road repairing and so forth”, Dodon said.

The president said that for the second step the authorities seek other sources to completely compensate these expenditures.

“We should find everyone who stole the billion, put them in prison, and return the money to the country. The process has already started, as several billions of lei have already been returned, some people received their verdicts, others were declared internationally wanted”, the President concluded.
