AIPA RECEIVES 470 APPLICATIONS FOR SUBSIDIES WORTH US$4.8 MILLION

The Agency for Interventions and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA) received 470 applications for providing subsidies with total worth of 88.8 million lei since early February.

According to the AIPA data, most demands are for getting subsidies for investments in agricultural machinery and equipment (250 applications worth 29.3 million lei), planting and modernization of perennial plantations (91 worth 8.3 million lei), as well as development of postharvest and processing infrastructure (28 worth 12.3 million lei).

The most active are farmers and agricultural producers from Cahul raion (34 applications worth 1.8 million lei), Donduseni (32 worth 2.1 million lei), Edinet (30 worth 1.5 million lei) and Orhei (30 worth 5.6 million lei). There is only one application from Balti worth 175 thousand lei.

The National Fund for Agriculture and Rural Development accounts for 1 billion lei (US$55 million) in 2020, which is 50 million lei more than last year. Over one-half of the Fund (570 million lei) is designed for covering arrears on 2019 subsidies. In this connection, given other types of support to agriculture, also financed from the Fund, around 200 million lei remain for ordinary subsidies.
