SOCIALIST MPS REJECTED BRIBES AND ADDRESSED TO PROSECUTOR GENERAL'S OFFICE - PRESIDENT DODON

26 may, 2020

The deputies, who were offered generous bribes for betraying the parliamentary Socialist faction, have addressed to the Prosecutor General's Office, President Igor Dodon stated in an interview to the Agora portal on Monday.

Dodon refrained from mentioning the deputies' names and only said that some of them were offered 400-500 thousand euros for migrating to the Pro Moldova group or the Ilan Shor Party faction.

"The offers were coming through mediators. The deputies were not told whose money it was. Simply, through their relatives or acquaintances, they were offered to leave the parliamentary Party of Socialists [PSRM] faction... The aim of that criminal group, which is now working to undermine the Parliament's work, is to tear at least one deputy away from the Socialist faction. For that group, it is of principal importance to show that the PSRM is not that solid and has fractures as well", said Igor Dodon.

"We must put an end to such political corruption. The right parties - PAS and DA Platform - should not rejoice that somebody is now trying to grab deputies from the PSRM. I know for sure that in the localities, certain interested forces are trying to bribe away also local deputies representing these two Right parties", said the President.
