ADMINISTRATION OF BALTI INTENDS TO TAKE A LOAN IN ONE OF THE BANKS FOR ROAD REPARATION

14 july, 2020

The administration of the Balti municipality intends to obtain a loan of 60 million lei from one of the banks of Moldova for the reparation of city roads. The mayor of the city, Renato Usatii said that there was absolutely not enough money from the Road Fund for this purpose.

“This is a credit line of the bank. We will pay interests only on the amount that is taken. The loan rate consists in 7.35%. These are the best conditions that we managed to reach after three months of negotiations with the three largest banks of the country,” he said.

According to Usatii, the problem of bad roads in Moldova can be solved by attracting additional funds.

“The state of infrastructure in the cities is such that it is impossible to radically improve something with transfers from the republican budget. A contribution to infrastructure is an investment,” said Usatii.

He believes that the roads to Balti should be repaired “in a high quality and for a long term”.

“We will negotiate with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, other international organizations ready to provide loans and grants for road repairs. My goal for the next three years is to maximize the renewal of road infrastructure and implement the Pedestrian City program,” the mayor said.
