TRANSFERS FROM STATE BUDGET TO COVERING SOCIAL FUND DEFICIENCY EXCEED 2.439 BILLION LEI

The revenues of the social insurance budget by the beginning of September reached almost 16.209 billion lei (US $ 953.4 million), which is by 1.167 billion lei or by 7.7% more than at the same period of 2019.

As the operational data of the National Social Insurance Fund (NSIF) show, more than half of the receipts - 9.001 billion lei - were contributions of compulsory social insurance. They were collected by 79.2 million lei (0.9%) more than a year earlier.

At the same time, transfers from the state budget exceeded 7.060 billion lei, of which 4.620 billion was for payments of social benefits and other payments, which, according to the law, are financed from the state treasury, and 2.439 billion lei (US $ 143.5 million) - to cover the social fund deficit against 1.926 billion a year ago.

Social insurance budget expenditures increased by 1.217 billion lei or by 8.4%, reaching 15.723 billion lei (US $ 924.9 million).

Taking into account the 2.5 billion support of the social fund from the state budget to cover the deficit, the total revenues of the NSIF exceeded the expenditures by 485.5 million lei. The balance of funds in the accounts of the department as of September 1 amounted to 485.3 million lei.
