MOLDOVA TO RECEIVE 9 MILLION EUROS FROM EUROPEAN COMMISSION FOR PUBLIC HEALTH SYSTEM

Moldova will receive 9 million euros of non-refundable aid from the European Commission (EC) under the “EU for Moldova program: to help the health system in the emergency situation of a pandemic and implement reforms in accordance with the Association Agreement.”

According to the Ministry of Finance, the EC took the initiative to sign the agreement, and the government approved the beginning of the negotiations yesterday.

According to Minister Sergiu Puscuta, the money will be used to support the health care system and implement reforms under the RM-EU Association Agreement.

It is estimated that 5 million euros will be spent on strengthening health care; 2 million - to improve corporate financial risk management; 1 million - to increase transparency, accountability and accessibility of the judicial system; 1 million euros - to strengthen the resilience of local media.

Funding is calculated for 2020-2026 and will be implemented by the EC. The document is to be signed by Sergiu Puscuta and the EC Director for Relations with the Eastern Partner Countries Lawrence Meredith.
