MOLDOVAN GOVERNMENT HAS APPROVED LAWS AGREED-ON FOR NEW PROGRAM OF COOPERATION WITH IMF – PREMIER CHICU

The Government of Moldova has approved the package of laws meeting the requirements of the new Program of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund, Moldovan Prime Minister Ion Chicu stated on Monday in the course of his online communication with Mitsuhiro Furusawa, Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, and with Alfred Kammer, Director of the IMF European Department.

According to the governmental press service, the conversation took place within the framework of an annual meeting of the IMF and the World Bank Group at Washington DC. The discussion involved also the Moldovan Deputy Premier, Minister of Finance Sergiu Puscuta and President of the National Bank of Moldova Octavian Armasu.

In the course of the videoconference, the parties analyzed the effect of realization of previous Programs with international organizations, having attached substantial attention to the progress of reforming of the Moldovan finance and banking sector. The interlocutors exchanged opinions about the implementation of the preliminary actions, agreed upon with the IMF for concluding of the new Program of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund.

Premier Chicu said that one of the main tasks of his Government is to continue investment in infrastructure development projects, construction of water lines, industrialization of the country etc. – all what leads to economic development and to the growth of citizens’ living standards.
