MOLDOVA GOVERNMENT ALLOCATES EXTRA 24 MILLION LEI IN COMPENSATIONS TO FARMERS

29 octomber, 2020

The Moldovan Government has decided to allocate extra 24 million lei in compensations to farmers. The decision was taken on Wednesday evening at the Cabinet’s working meeting in response to the addresses still coming from agricultural producers, who have suffered from a severe 11-month-long drought and from the ruinous hails that happened at the beginning of the past summer.

It was admitted at the government meeting that due to bureaucratic errors committed at filling in documents, some farmers failed to be included into the register of help recipients, so they did not receive the Government’s help.

“There are approximately 250 such economic agents, which submitted necessary documents before July 1, but due to bureaucratic faults they have not receive the assistance. We must eliminate this injustice”, stated Prime Minister Ion Chicu.

So, the initial compensation sum of 300 million lei will thus be increased by 24 million. The money will be provided from the National Fund for Agriculture and Rural Development.
