MOLDOVAN GOVERNMENT DECIDES TO RAISE SALARIES TO HEALTH WORKERS BY 30% SINCE JANUARY 2021

The Moldovan Government held an extraordinary working meeting on Tuesday and decided to push up salaries to health workers (employed in the state healthcare system) by 30% starting from January 1, 2021. The raise has been stipulated in the Law on the 2021 State Budget and in the Law on the 2021 Fiscal Policy.

This increase measure will affect also ambulance drivers. But the technical staff of health institutions will have their salaries increased by only 3%.

The higher salaries for 43 thousand beneficiaries will require some 1.1 billion lei in 2021. Prime Minister Ion Chicu named this step as absolutely necessary for improving the healthcare system and for curbing the exodus of medicine specialists to foreign countries.

Chicu reminded that this is going to be already a third salary raise over last 8 months, after one in April (+10%) and one last September (+30%).
