GAS TARIFF FOR HOUSEHOLDS WILL GO UP TO NEARLY 30 LEI/CUBIC METER FROM OCTOBER 1 – ANRE

23 september, 2022

On October 1, the gas tariff for households will go up by 27.3% - from the current 22.99 lei to 29.27 lei a cubic meter with an account of the value-added tax, as per decision taken on Friday by the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) Administrative Board.

Thus, the gas tariff at points of exit from low-pressure gas distribution networks (for household consumers) will increase by 27.3% - from 21,296 to 27,103 lei per 1,000 cubic meters (without VAT), medium-pressure by 29.7% - from 19,654 to 25,493 lei, and high-pressure by 29.9% - from 19,371 to 25,175 lei.

The decision was made on the basis of a request from Moldovagaz, according to which the average gas tariff for consumers should increase by 31.5%, to 26,675 lei per thousand cubic meters, without VAT.

The supplier named the continued significant increase in purchase prices for Russian gas as the main factor that necessitated the increase.

According to ANRE, its purchase price increased from $851 per 1,000 m3 in June to $1,459 in August and $1,883 in September. It calculated the new tariff taking into account the new average annual purchase price of $927.

As Infotag has already reported, due to significant gaps between the purchase and selling prices, Moldovagaz cannot make timely and full payments to Gazprom. In particular, by the deadline of September 20, it once again failed to pay the advance payment for gas in September ($33.89 million) in full, and Moldova risks being left without gas if Gazprom decides to stop deliveries due to non-fulfillment of contractual obligations.
