1 MILLION WORTH OF CONTRABAND DETAINED AT ENTRY TO CHISINAU

Prosecutors and customs officers detained contraband worth 1 million lei at the entry to Chisinau. Those were consumer goods purchased by four citizens of Moldova in the Odessa markets and imported through Transnistria. According to the law enforcers, the smugglers used to transport goods to Moldova bypassing customs checkpoints, by changing cars and avoiding control along their way to the republic. All four smugglers are placed under house arrest. They may be sentenced to 10 years in jail.
