POLICE DETAINED 38 DRUNK DRIVERS LAST WEEKEND

Last weekend, 38 motorists were detained by the Moldovan traffic police for drunken driving, of whom 3 men refused to be examined with a breathalyzer. The owner of a Porsche SUV achieved such a breakneck speed in Chisinau’s main street that his vehicle flew up several stairs onto the platform between the Monument to King Stefan cel Mare. The past weekend brought over 900 registered traffic rule violations, including about 4 hundred instances of speeding. In 8 traffic accidents, one person died and 9 were injured.
