​PROSECUTOR GENERAL SENDS ANDRIAN POPENCO DOSSIER TO INTEGRITY ORGAN

Prosecutor General Alexander Stoianoglo took notice of the journalist investigation published by the anticorruption.md portal, in which Prosecutor Andrian Popenco was the main figure, and sent these materials to the National Integrity Organ (NIO) for verification. The Moldovan mass media blamed Popenco for his ties with fugitive oligarch Vladimir Plahotniuc. In 2015, Popenco was appointed to head an investigation team, which was investigating the case of machinations in Banca de Economii [savings bank]. The case was based on the evidence provided by oligarch Ilan Sor. It was precisely Prosecutor Popenco, to whom Ilan Sor gave evidence against ex-Prime Minister Vlad Filat. Presently, Popenco works at the Chisinau City Prosecution Office.
