KVINT BUILDING UP OUTPUT STEADILY
Tiraspol. The KVINT wine and brandy association of Tiraspol produced 4.13 million liters of various wines and other alcoholic products in January-July – up 7% against the equivalent period of last year, the official Transnistrian television reported.
According to it, the region’s largest profiled company is placing emphasis on its long-waited comeback to the Russian market lost in early 2007 due to the ban Russia imposed on the supply of wines from the Republic of Moldova.
For decades, KVINT has been renowned as a producer of top quality vodkas and brandies. Presently, it makes over 20 denominations of brandies alone. Last several years, the enterprise has been steadily increasing the output of wines, too, as its own raw-material potential is gaining strength: lately, KVINT has purchased 3.5 thousand hectares of vineyards in the Dubossary and Kamenka raions of Transnistria. This year, 716 hectares of its mature plantations will bring a generous grape harvest.
According to RosPotrebNadzor [Russian federal supervisory agency for consumer goods quality] data, since November 2007 Russian companies have imported 684 thousand liters of brandies and over 113 thousand liters of wines from Transnistria – overwhelmingly from KVINT and the Dubossary winery.
KVINT belongs to the Transnistrian mighty holding of Sheriff, which privatized the enterprise for US$21 million in 2006.
