MOLDOVA WILL UNITE WITH ROMANIA, AND TRANSNISTRIA WILL GO TO RUSSIA, FORMER ROMANIAN SECURITY CHIEF SAYS
Chisinau. Jelu Voican-Voiculescu, the former head of Romania’s Security Department, presumes Ukraine will split up, Russia will get the Crimea and Transnistria back into its ownership, while Romania will receive the Herta judet and northern Bukovina [currently in Ukraine].
In his interview with the Ziua [Day] newspaper of Bucharest, he maintained that the Republic of Moldova will reunite with the Motherland Romania, and Vladimir Voronin will become Vice-President of Romania.
“For a compensation, Russia will receive the Romanian State’s consent to let the Southern Stream pan-European gas pipeline to run along Romania’s Black Sea coast”, predicted Voican-Voiculescu.
He is convinced that Ukraine’s split is inevitable, “which implies an inevitable revision of borders. After Russia gets back the Crimea, yielded [to Ukraine] for political benefits by Khrushchev in 1954, Russia will be vitally interested in having Transnistria even in the form of an enclave because there remain gigantic underground ammunition depots of the Russian 14th Army guarded currently by a handful of military personnel who, however, can grow up to a contingent of half a million men who can be brought there in a matter of hours by means of an airlift”.
