…RULING COALITION HAS NOT YET MADE UP ITS MIND ABOUT EARLY ELECTIONS…
The governing Alliance for European Integration has not yet worked out its common position on early parliamentary elections because one of its constituent forces, the Liberal Democratic Party, is maintaining an early election is inevitable, while the rest 3 organizations – the Liberal Party, the Democratic Party and the Moldova Noastra Alliance – are confidently saying there exists another way out.
Speaking live on the ProTV-Chisinau channel, MP Vitalie Nagacevschi said an early parliamentary election is inevitable from the juridical point of view: “As it follows clearly from the Constitution, parliament must be disbanded within maximum 1 year from the final round of ineffective presidential elections. So, such moment will come in late 2010”. [The last such voting took place on December 12, 2009.]
MP Igor Corman says his Democratic Party stands for working out a legitimate solution that would let avoid an early election, the more so that citizens do not wish one more election campaign, either. For this to achieve, there exist several variants, and the AEI should choose the best one.
Acting President and Parliament Chairman Mihai Ghimpu once again reminded that he stands up for a constitutional reform, that he does not want an early parliamentary election, and has no hope for reaching an accord with the Communists.
Moldova Noastra Alliance leader Serafim Urechean is convinced there will be no early parliamentary elections.
