MCP SHALL CHALLENGE GHIMPU’S REFUSAL TO DISSOLVE PARLIAMENT – VORONIN
The Moldovan Communist Party shall challenge with the Constitutional Court the refusal by Acting President Mihai Ghimpu to dissolve the current Parliament on June 16, ex-President of Moldova, leader of the opposition Moldovan Communist Party MP Vladimir Voronin stated on the new Publika television channel on Thursday night.
Voronin said he has already requested MCP lawyers to draw up corresponding documents for this, “and, moreover, they will be translated into foreign languages and sent over to all European Union member countries”.
He refrained from answering directly if he is going to stand for president once again, asking jokingly, “What does Moldova wants to punish me for by making me president again?”
Voronin highly praised one of the members of the MCP parliamentary faction, Eduard Musuc [who was Secretary General of the Social Democratic Party only about a year ago], characterizing him as one of the most active party members. He also mentioned favorably the leader of the extreme Right-wing Christian Democratic Popular Party, Iurie Rosca, for his being a “genuine politician”. And as for Rosca’s sudden becoming the closest ally of the extreme Left-wing MCP in April 2005, Voronin said, “the Moldovan society misinterpreted Mr. Rosca’s step then”.
On the other hand, Vladimir Voronin criticized traditionally strongly the governing Alliance for European Integration leaders, stating that the Alliance is directed “by other political forces, including the European Union”.
The ex-president voiced discontent that the Filat Government has agreed to the coming of 9 European advisers to work at Moldovan ministries. He wondered, “Do the foreigners know the situation in Moldova better than any locals? I guess the Government should train domestic experts for consulting domestic ministries”.
Asked if he has made mistakes ever in his political career, Vladimir Voronin replied that he is a human being like all the rest, so he certainly made some mistakes as a citizen and as a politician.
Asked to comment the intention by Valeriu Pasat to establish a political party, Voronin refrained from saying anything.
