REVACCINATION AGAINST EPIDEMIC PAROTITIS TO BE STARTED IN CHISINAU

Chisinau. The vaccination of the epidemic parotitis risk groups will be started in Chisinau within the near 10-14 days, Chief of the municipal health department Mihail Moldoveanu said, answering an inquiry by the Chisinau Municipal Council.
It is planned to vaccinate 150 thousand people in Chisinau, such number of vaccine doses is expected to be received by medical institutions. The approximate cost of a vaccine dose constitutes 20 lei, the total company will cost 3 million lei.
As the purchase of additional vaccine doses is not included into the National Vaccination Program, it is necessary to search for non-budgetary financial sources. That is why, in all probability the municipality will have to allocate financial resources for vaccines for Chisinau citizens.
The parotitis epidemic began last autumn in Chisinau. For several months the epidemic covered the entire republic. However, the most considerable sickness rate is observed in the capital city – only from the beginning of the year 1300 cases of epidemic parotitis have been registered.
