MOLDOVA TO WORK OUT NEW BILL ON NON-GOVERNMENTAL PENSION FUNDS
14.05.2008
Chisinau. The National Commission for Financial Market (NCFM) intends to work out a new Bill on Non-governmental Pension Funds (NPF).
The purpose of approving such law was discussed on Tuesday at a meeting between the NCFM administration and WB Expert Zorin Anushich.
In his opinion, Moldova’s present legislative base does not stimulate setting up such funds in Moldova and even makes them non-competitive, compared with banks’ and insurance companies’ proposals.
For the time being there is the only NPF in Moldova. Its founder is the Victoria Asigurari insurance company. Nothing is known to the public about the results of its activities.
The NCFM is sure that the conduct of an international conference, devoted to the pension reform system, in Chisinau, will allow working out new approaches to the resolution of the pension problem, including the activation of setting up the NPF.
