MoF DISCUSSES POSSIBILITY OF RELEASING SECOND TRANCHE FOR SUPPORTING PENSION SYSTEM

Chisinau. Deputy Minister of Finance Ion Sturzu has discussed the possibility of releasing for Moldova the second tranche for supporting pension system in the course of his meeting with a WB delegation, led by Zoran Anušić.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Finance, Moldova is currently using the first tranche, namely, public. However, in the context of the international experience and Moldova’s economic development the sides discussed the possibility of releasing the second tranche – from non-government pension funds.
Ion Sturzu remarked that the state will allocate pensions in the order of priority and underlined that the state is currently taking financial-economic measures on the re-organization of the state social insurance budget.
Today 624.3 thousand people are beneficiaries of the pension fund. The number of pensioners increases yearly by 2%. The pension age was determined for men to be 62 years and 57 years – for women. The average old-age pension size constitutes 564 lei (USD50). In 2008 the pension fund constitutes 4.5 million lei – 22.9% more against 2007.
