GOVERNMENT TO ACTIVATE SUPPORT FOR REGIONS

The Government will strengthen its efforts on supporting regions. In particular, it completed working out the new Bill on Local Public Finance for creating “the real autonomy of the regions, its present version contains a lot of contradictory provisions.
The matter was of this in the course of a meeting between Prime Minister Vlad Filat with the representatives of the raions. The Premier called upon the local authorities for taking an active part in completing the working-out of the new Bill. In particular, the document stipulates the order of rendering support to the local authorities, including financial transfers from the central authorities.
On the completion of the meeting the raion heads told journalists that they spoke out a number of their wishes, concerning the overcoming of problems faced by each raion separately, including support for agricultural producers, re-enforcement of the dams on both sides of the Dniester and the Prut.
Chairman of the Glodeni raion Ion Movila was satisfied with the results of the conversation with the Prime Minister Vlad Filat and remarked that Vladimir Filat promised to solve the problem of the Glodeni sugar refinery.
“He promised to give his opinion of the Investment Memorandum, offered by the Suedzucker for guaranteeing the stability of the framework terms of the sugar-beet and sugar sector. In this case our refinery will have very soon a good and serious owner”, Movila said.
He underscored the social and economic importance of the enterprise for the raion infrastructure and for the entire sector.
In 2007-2013 Moldova participates in the Romania-Ukraine-Moldova joint operational program with a budget in the amount of 134 million Euros on supporting the economy on the spots.
