MOLDOVAN COMMUNISTS CONCERNED ABOUT “CREEPING USURPATION OF STATE POWER” BY RULING ALLIANCE
01.09.2010
The ongoing “creeping usurpation of the state power” by the ruling Alliance for European Integration (AEI) leaders has reached a dangerous line, presumes the opposition Moldovan Communist Party (MCP).
At its meeting held this past weekend, the Political Executive Committee of the MCP Central Committee underscored numerous facts of “crying interference by power structures into the electoral process in the run-up to the constitutional referendum that should equip the AEI leaders with a formal ground for not holding an early parliamentary election”.
“The intimidation and repressions being used by the power structures, ignoring of the principle of the division of powers between central and local authorities, the Government’s moral readiness for suppressing democratic rights and freedoms in the Republic of Moldova by using police and military methods are proving that the Alliance leaders have made a resolute step towards establishing a direct dictatorship and have embarked on the preparation of a final stage of state power usurpation”, reckons the MCP leadership.
The Political Executive Committee presumes that after September 5, in case the referendum is recognized as null and void, “the authorities may well resort to anti-constitutional actions and may try to railroad through parliament certain state acts legalizing a power usurpation by the Alliance for European Integration and proceed with dismantling of the Republic of Moldova’s statehood”.
In these conditions, the Political Executive Committee passed a resolution on suspending the Communist boycott of parliament plenary sittings, and compelled the MCP parliamentary faction to resume its regular participation in the forum’s plenary meetings, to closely follow the situation development, to actively use the parliament rostrum for informing the Moldovan and international public about the alarming political developments in the republic, and to use every possible means to prevent the AEI’s attempts to liquidate the Republic of Moldova’s constitutional system.
