GHIMPU SENDS LETTER OF HOPE TO RUSSIAN PRESIDENT
02.09.2010
The problem of the exports of Moldovan wines and crop-origin products to Russia will hopefully be resolved in the nearest future on the level of experts from the two countries proceeding from the two peoples’ interests and from the principles of strategic partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation. Hope for this was expressed in the letter Moldova’s Acting President Mihai Ghimpu sent to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
Ghimpu thanked his Russian colleague for congratulations on Moldova’s Independence Day, and reaffirmed Chisinau’s interest for “establishing a constructive and efficient dialog with Moscow based on mutual respect for the development of multifaceted cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation”.
“I am convinced Russia is capable of making a constructive contribution to achieving a just solution of the Transnistria problem to be based on the principles of Moldova’s territorial integrity and sovereignty”, wrote Mihai Ghimpu.
He assured President Medvedev and the Russian people of his permanent cordial sympathies towards them.

I've enjoyed wines from Moldova for years but they have been produced by ordinary people at home and some though not all have been excellent. It does appear or seems to appear that a small or perhaps powerful group of thieves are bringing the Moldovan wine industry into disrupute - its now time for the minister responsible to gird his loins and resolve this for the benefit of the country and its citizens and the wider world - But then again has he got the balls !
