ASSOCIATION AGREEMENT SIGNATURE IS NOT FINAL STAGE IN MOLDOVA-EUROPE RELATIONS – FRANCOIS HOLLANDE

17 june, 2014

The soon-to-be signing of the Association Agreement is not the final stage in the relationship between Moldova and the European Union, French President Francois Hollande stated in his meeting with Moldovan Prime Minister Iurie Leanca in Paris on Monday.

The interlocutors discussed the importance of stability in the region and the progress of reforms in Eastern Partnership countries.

The French President assured that France will be further backing Moldova’s European course.

Leanca welcomed France’s readiness for cooperation in the context of the would-be relations between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union.

“I am happy to see that France has confirmed its solidarity and friendship with Moldova, which also has Latin roots, and is also a European and a Francophone country. We have agreed to impart a new impulse to our bilateral relations, particularly in the sphere of economy and investment”, stated the Iurie Leanca.

He assured that the Republic of Moldova stands ready to further strengthen cooperation with the International organization for cooperation of Francophone nations, and emphasized Moldova’s readiness to host in Chisinau a conference on the popularization of Francophonie.
