UNIONISTS PREPARING MARCH OF SOLIDARITY WITH BESSARABIA

07 octomber, 2014

Unionists [adherents to the idea of unire – Moldova’s unification with Romania] are organizing a March of Solidarity with Bessarabia [the present-day mainland Republic of Moldova – without the Transnistrian region] on the Sunday of October 12.

The march will begin in Bucharest under the slogans of unification as the only solution for Republic of Moldova citizens in the current geopolitical conditions.

Gheorghe Simion of the Civil Platform “Actiunea 2012”, one of the march organizers, offered an opinion that “in the conditions of Russia’s aggression in the post-Soviet area, the only chance for Bessarabia to avoid Ukraine’s destiny is to get united with Romania”.

This will be a third such march in Bucharest. This year, it is being organized in the run-up to the to the November 2 presidential elections in Romania and November 30 parliamentary elections in Moldova.

Yet another pro-unire movement, “The Young of Moldova”, has undertaken to fund the delivery of Moldovan unionists to the Bucharest march.

For “a symbolic price” of 450 lei (some US$31) per capita, the unionist movement undertakes to organize a 2-day voyage to Bucharest, accommodation and a ticket to the Romania-Hungary football match on October 11.

The Young expect that more than a thousand unionists from Moldova will go to the Romanian capital.

Infotag’s dossier: Actiunea 2012 unites a number of Moldovan and Romanian non-governmental organizations supporting the idea of unification of the two countries.
