MARK TKACHUK SAYS MCP LEADERS ARE PURPOSEFULLY DRIVING PARTY TO ELECTORAL DEFEAT

23 octomber, 2014

MP Mark Tkachuk, reputed as the Communist Party’s chief ideologist until early 2014 and formerly an influential-most member of the Political Bureau of the MCP Central Committee, is convinced that the present-day MCP leadership is purposefully and consciously driving the party to an election defeat.

In his interview with the Omega portal, Tkachuk commented the recent accusations against him made by MCP Chairman Vladimir Voronin, and stated that the people remaining in the party leadership are steadily bringing the organization to an electoral defeat, “having betrayed the Communist electorate, 5 years of hardest resistance to the banditry regime, having betrayed our red banner and our victory, which was at the distance of an outstretched hand”.

“Now all this is clear to the entire Moldovan society, who were taken by surprise by wheeler-dealers and bilks with party cards in pocket. But somebody will have to stand responsibility for this shameful capitulation. And then no Chisinau intrigues, no slander will save the cynical organizers of the MCP defeat”, presumes Mark Tkachuk.

He commented the accusations put forward against him – that he allegedly handed in to Voronin a list of persons with dubious reputations, who were allegedly supposed to be included into the MCP ticket for the November 30 parliamentary elections.

“I hereby confirm that a list of persons for inclusion into the MCP ticket was really delivered to Voronin. He agreed to consider such approach to forming the electoral ticket. He agreed with those people, whom he met personally and conversed with. He showed interest to that approach to ticket forming, promised to consider the list and so forth. Later, the list was handed in to Vladimir Voronin by MP Artur Resetnicov. Resetnicov was exactly the mediator to discussing and promoting that question. And now the chief thing: I have never seen that list. The names of the persons included into it were read to me by Voronin himself in his office room in late April. That’s all”, said Tkachuk, who declared several weeks ago that he was ceasing his political activities.

Infotag’s dossier: On June 7, 2014 the plenum of the MCP Central Committee majority-voted for excluding MPs Mark Tkachuk, Iurie Muntean and Grigore Petrenco from party governing bodies. That decision was initiated by party chairman Vladimir Voronin himself. Tkachuk was thus dismissed as the MCP chief ideologist and was withdrawn from the MCP Central Committee, but remained a rank and file party member. His fate was repeated by Grigore Petrenco [who is Deputy Chairperson of the Unified European Left group in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe], who was responsible in the MCP Political Executive Committee for the party’s foreign policy. He was expelled from the MCP Central Committee. Iurie Muntean remained a MCP Central Committee member, but ceased to be MCP Executive Secretary. According to the unconfirmed information available with Infotag, at the Central Committee plenum, Voronin severely criticized the expelled MCP heavyweights. Voronin also stated that Mark Tkachuk is suffering a personality cult, and that “all the three receive commands from Moscow”.
