RENATO USATII SAYS CEC’S DECISION IS PHASE OF WELL-ORGANIZED PROVOCATION

27 november, 2014

The leading personality on the Patria Party electoral ticket, businessman and politician Renato Usatii, regards as “nothing but a phase of a well-organized provocation” the Central Election Commission’s intention to remove Patria from the election campaign.

Usatii stated to journalists in the Chisinau Appeals Chamber before the CEC inquiry examination on Thursday morning, “I have no doubt absolutely that this is an obvious provocation. Earlier this week, somebody tried to remit onto our bank account 374 thousand lei from an offshore company registered as recently as October 2014. Undoubtedly, the offshore was founded and registered precisely for, and only for, such electoral purpose. But this money did not reach our account because placement of whatever means is impossible without our consent. The remittance has been blocked in the bank. We have no relation to the means”, said Usatii.

The politician reiterated that he has stated all his money, which he brought to the republic officially, as his personal means.

“Last summer, I declared officially the bringing here of 14 million lei that belonged to me. That money was used for various purposes, including for charity. Why have they decided that the money went for election campaign? How on earth could they calculate this?” wondered the politician.

He stressed that all money intended for the Patria electoral fund was donated by individuals, not by legal entities. This money amounted to 10.8 million lei.

“I have thoroughly checked the origins of those means so that to exclude any possible gossips or accusations. Furthermore, we have brought with us to the CAC today all the statements of incomes of these people concerned. And we do hope that unlike the Central Election Commission, the Appeals Chamber will take our arguments into account”, said the politician.

As already reported by Infotag, on Thursday afternoon the Central Election Commission addressed to the Chisinau Appeals Chamber with the inquiry to annul the registration of the Patria Party as a runner for parliament on a ground that the Party had received financing from abroad in the amount of more than 8 million lei. The reason for such address was the request brought to the CEC by the General Police Inspectorate on Thursday afternoon. .

It is noteworthy that the CEC passed its decision with lightning speed. Commission Chairman Iurie Ciocan was in such an unnatural hurry that he even did not permit Renato Usatii to say a word of explanation. The only thing Ciocan had time for was a short phrase that Patria has its permanent representative in the Commission, and that only that person has the right to speak.
