IGOR DODON PREDICTS EARLY PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS IN MOLDOVA

30 january, 2015

Moldova will soon hold early parliamentary elections because the pro-European parties in the Moldovan Parliament cannot and will not be able to reach an agreement on a new government, Moldovan Party of Socialists (PSRM) Secretary General MP Igor Dodon stated on Thursday during his meeting in Moscow with Sergey Naryshkin, Chairman of the Russian State Duma, the lower chamber of the Russian Federation’s bicameral legislative assembly.

Dodon voiced confidence that as a result of the early elections, a new Parliament will be elected in Moldova that will renounce the idea of the republic’s accession to European Union.

Igor Dodon promised that the Party of Socialists, having the largest faction in the Moldovan Parliament, will stand up with legislative initiatives on denunciation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement and on announcing 2015 as Year of the 70th anniversary of the Soviet people’s victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Sergey Naryshkin perceived the PSRM victory at the November 30, 2014 parliamentary elections as “a logical result achieved by healthy forces in Moldova who stand for the independence of their republic, against the diktat of Brussels countries, and against an unhealthy, forcible Euro-integration”.

In his words, on the example of the present-day situation in Ukraine, one can see what happens when certain political actors start forcing the country to go towards European integration.

“The Party of Socialists electorate are assessing positively the Eurasian integration processes, so the Russian side stands ready for cooperation in this direction”, said the Duma Speaker.

Igor Dodon confirmed that a majority of Moldova citizens stand up against integration into Europe, and they support the Eurasian integration process, consolidation of Moldova’s state language and the idea of country federalization.

On Wednesday, the parliamentary factions of the PSRM and of The Fair Russia Party held in the Russian State Duma their 1st joint sitting. At the end of the assembly, the two political parties signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, which Russian party leader Sergey Mironov called “a historic-importance document”.

Mironov voiced hope that cooperation between the two parties and factions will be very positive and fruitful for the good of the peoples of Moldova and Russia.

“Our Moldovan friends will be working to hold an early parliamentary election so that to ruin the current ruling coalition in Moldova and to bring into power the genuine patriots of Moldova standing for integration with Russia within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union and Customs Union”, said Sergey Mironov.
