MOLDOVAN PARLIAMENT RATIFIES NINE INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENTS

29 may, 2015

The Moldovan Parliament today ratified nine international agreements Moldova had signed earlier with foreign countries and international organizations. Most of the ratified documents stipulate the harmonization of the national Moldovan legislation with international norms.

One of the documents regulates arms trade in small-caliber weapons, small arms, ammunition and other military goods, and stipulates the introduction of an account of permissions for arms exports for a period of 10 years.

To put the agreement into effect, the countries that have ratified it will establish a common fund on a volunteer basis. To date, the agreement has already been ratified by 32 countries – out of the 118 that have signed it. The agreement will start working in full when 50 nations ratify it.

Another document pertains to an Additional Protocol to the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA). The Protocol stipulates creation of new possibilities for trade exchanges and inter-region economic cooperation in economic and political fields. CEFTA stipulates full liberalization trade in agricultural goods with Albania, Montenegro, Serbia and Macedonia.

Yet another ratified document is one on Moldova’s accession to the Regional Convention on preferential rules of the origin of goods in the pan-European and Mediterranean zone. The Convention works in 42 countries of the European Union and the Mediterranean region.

Other ratified documents are: the Protocol of cooperation with Turkey in the development field; an agreement on cooperation with the Eurojust; agreement on founding a center for advanced training of finance employees; and an agreement on cooperation with the Europol.
