​AEI-3 AGREES UPON NEW GOVERNMENT’S LINEUP

The three constituent parties of the new governing Alliance for European Integration, AEI-3, have agreed upon the personal composition of the Government of the Republic of Moldova to be headed by Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet, the Deputy Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party.

The new Government will have four Deputy Premiers – Natalia Gherman (Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration), Stephane Christophe Bride (Minister of Economy), Gheorghe Brega (in charge of social issues) and Victor Osipov (in charge of country reintegration affairs).

Several ministers of the previous Government will remain on their posts namely Anatol Arapu – as Minister of Finance, Ion Sula – as Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Oleg Balan – as Minister of the Interior, Monica Babuc – as Minister of Culture, Pavel Filip – as Minister of Informational and Telecommunication Technologies, and Vasile Batca – as Minister of Regional Development and Construction.

The Strelet Government will include the following new members: First Deputy Chairman of the Liberal Party Anatol Salaru will be Minister of Defense, Corina Fusu – Minister of Education, Valeriu Munteanu – Minister of Environment Protection, Iurie Chirinciuc – Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure.

Incumbent Minister of Health Mircea Buga will become Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family; incumbent Deputy Minister of Education Loretta Handrabura will be Minister of Youth and Sports; incumbent Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Ruxanda Glavan will come to head the Ministry of Health; and incumbent Director General of the National Railroad Company of Moldova (CFM) and former Deputy Minister of Transport Vladimir Cebotari will become Minister of Justice.

According to initial plans, the Moldovan Parliament is going to hold a special sitting on Thursday afternoon, at which candidate Valeriu Strelet will request the legislative forum to vote confidence in his governmental team and its work program.

The Alliance for European Integration consists of 52 lawmakers representing the Liberal Democratic Party, Democratic Party and Liberal Party in the 101-member Parliament of Moldova.
