​AMERICAN MILITARY AND MACHINERY ARRIVE IN MOLDOVA TO TAKE PART IN FIELD EXERCISES

The American military and their combat vehicles have come to Moldova to participate in field exercises. According to the Moldovan Ministry of Defense, the column of the American military machines, which will take part in the Dragon Pioneer 2016 exercises, crossed the Moldovan border at Sculeni border-crossing station on Tuesday morning.

The U.S. Embassy to Moldova confirmed last Friday that the said military will be remaining in Moldova from May 2 to 16. A part of them came to Chisinau the day before on board a special plane of the U.S. Air Force.

The Dragon Pioneer exercise will be taking place in Moldova from May 3 to 20. It will involve 165 Moldovan soldiers and officers and 198 military from the 2nd Cavalry Regiment [from U.S. land troops in Europe, USAREUR]. The event will involve 58 American combat vehicles, including 11 mine sweeping machines and 18 Hammer HMMWV jeeps, which will remain here as America’s gift for Moldova after the exercise.

The Moldovan side will engage 40 machines in the exercise.

The Moldovan Ministry of Defense has reported that the exercise is aimed basically at training of military engineering units and at improving interaction between the two armies.
