​ PREMIER DEMANDS GOVERNMENT MEMBERS TO CONTRIBUTE TO STARTING NEGOTIATIONS WITH IMF

At the Wednesday's Government meeting, Prime Minister Pavel Filip demanded members of the Cabinet of Ministers to concentrate on reforms for progress in negotiations with the IMF mission.

"The fact-finding IMF mission is paying a working visit to Moldova within the period of May 23 through 27 at out invitation. We have already held the first meeting, where I reported about Moldova's achievements since the previous mission's visit. I would ask everyone, who participates in negotiations, to concentrate on reforms, provided in the roadmap, agreed with development partners", the Premier said.

It is about reforms concerning three main directions of Government's activity: banking system stabilization, justice reform and corruption combating, as well as creation of a comfortable business environment for investors.

"We have to actively work with the mission and implement reforms so that negotiations on a new program with the IMF to start as soon as possible. The roadmap should be completely implemented by July 1, in the last resort by the end of July", Filip stressed. Infotag's dossier: Earlier, the Premier expressed hope that negotiations with IMF on signing a cooperation memorandum with Moldova will start in June. The current Fund's mission is in Chisinau with a familiarization visit, it does not have mandate to start negotiations on new cooperation Program. According to experts, even if the Government fulfills the roadmap in time, negotiations with the IMF may start not earlier than September 2016.
