PSRM READY TO COLLABORATE WITH OTHER OPPOSITION FORCES AT PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

08 june, 2016

The Party of Socialists stands ready to collaborate with other opposition forces at the October 30 presidential election, Chairman Igor Dodon wrote in his Facebook page.

“We have always agreed to be in dialog with other opposition forces – as long as such dialog pertains to achieving common goals. The PSRM’s goals are remaining unchanged: we consistently stand and shall further stand for throwing down the incumbent oligarchic administration and for liberation of the state institutions the oligarchs have captured”, stated MP Dodon.

According to him, the Socialists believe that the presidential election will be won by the opposition, and that an early parliamentary election should be held on one day with the presidential one i.e. on October 30.

“As for a presidential candidate, we will enter into dialog with opposition representatives and will try to find optimum variants of participation in the elections so as to defeat the oligarchic power. Clearly, the Party of Socialists and the candidate to be supported by it will be avoiding any confrontation with the possible candidates of other opposition formations. Our common objective is to dismiss the incumbent oligarchic power, so all our statements and actions must be aimed at achieving this objective”, said the PSRM Chairman.

Concerning the nomination of a common candidate from the opposition, Igor Dodon gave to understand that he should become such a candidate.

“The Party of Socialists’ final decision will be based on the opinion of a majority of PSRM members and supporters as well as on the results of opinion polls reflecting citizens’ moods”, wrote the Socialist leader.

Meanwhile, the Moldovan mass media are writing increasingly about the signs of approximation between the Party of Socialists, Our Party and the DA Platform. The three organizations are negotiating their possible nomination of a common presidential candidate. Earlier, the PSRM Executive Committee spoke out for nominating Igor Dodon as a presidential candidate. Latest opinion polls are also showing that Dodon should reach the second round of elections as a leader of the election race, after winning 20% to 30% in the first round.
