PARLIAMENT TO GATHER FOR EXTRAORDINARY SITTING JULY 27 TO DECIDE ABOUT VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE IN FILIP GOVERNMENT

22 july, 2016

The Moldovan Parliament decided today to hold an extraordinary plenary meeting next Wednesday to debate the Socialists-submitted draft Resolution on a vote of no confidence in the Government of Pavel Filip.

Parliament Chairman Andrian Candu remarked in this connection that July 27 will thus become “a day of no-confidence votes” because besides the Government resignation question, the Parliament will be supposed to consider also the earlier-demanded Resolution on no-confidence in Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Brega and Minister of Regional Development and Construction Vasile Batca.

Before the plenary meeting on Friday, Speaker Candu said to the press that on Monday, July 25, “a special platform” on Transnistrian conflict settlement will hold its meeting in the Parliament.

According to the Speaker, deputies will hear Moldova’s Political Representative at the Transnistria negotiations, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Affairs Gheorghe Balan, who will present “the evolution of latest events”, in particular the Berlin meeting (June 2-3) and the Bavaria Conference of this July.

The “platform” meeting will be organized on the eve of the visit to be paid to Chisinau by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Tuesday, July 26.
