​MOLDOVANS WANT TO SEE IGOR DODON AS PRESIDENT WHILE PAVEL FILIP AS PREMIER

Moldovan citizens want to see leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon in the post of head of the state, while the current head of the executive Pavel Filip – in the post of Prime Minister, says an opinion poll, conducted by the Moldovan Institute of Marketing and Surveys in partnership with the news portal Deschide.MD and Center for Early Prevention of Conflicts, published on Friday.

The poll demonstrated that if presidential elections would be carried out next Sunday, 14.6% of respondents would vote for Igor Dodon, 8.6% – for Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) leader Maia Sandu, while 5.6% – for Andrei Nastase, Chairman of the “Demnitate si Adevar” [DA, “Dignity and Justice”] Party.

Some electors would vote for Moldovan Communist Party Chairman Vladimir Voronin – 5.3%, for Democratic Party leader Marian Lupu – 4.5%, current Prime Minister Pavel Filip – 3.1%, European People's Party of Moldova Chairman Iurie Leanca – 3%.

During the poll, respondents also said whom they want to see in the post of head of the Government. The list is topped by current Premier Pavel Filip (14.7%), then comes Maia Sandu with 14.4% and Igor Dodon – 9.5%.

Also, some electors would give their votes for Balti mayor, Partidul Nostru [Our Party] leader Renato Usatii (8.1%), Andrei Nastase – with 5.1% and Vladimir Voronin – 4.5%.

The ranking is closed by former prime minister Valeriu Strelet – 0.8%, Speaker of the Parliament Adrian Candu – 1.5% and first Deputy Chairman of the DP Vlad Plahotniuc (ruling coalition executive coordinator) – 1.5%.

Infotag’s dossier: The opinion poll was carried out among 1,144 residents of Moldova on July 25 through August 9. The pollsters are saying that error should not exceed ±3%.
