IGOR DODON CALLS CITIZENS TO VOTE FOR HIM, PROMISES TO BE “A PRESIDENT FOR ALL”

27 octomber, 2016

The presidential candidate from the Party of Socialists, its Chairman Igor Dodon has called citizens to vote for him and promised to be “a president for all, no matter political preferences or ethnicity”.

Speaking at a news conference on Thursday, the politician said that the voting day of October 30 may become a turning point in the 25-year-long history of modern Moldova.

“Last 7 years of the ‘pro-European’ governance have brought Moldova to an economic, social and political catastrophe. Over a million Moldovans live below the poverty level and cannot afford even basic things such as food, clothes etc. in necessary amounts. Not less that one million Moldovans are outside their native country, working to support their families. Tens of thousand children live without parents, and many of them cannot receive education because our pro-European authorities have closed down many schools all over the country. Many young people cannot afford studying at colleges or universities”, said the Socialist.

“To all these grievances, the authorities added the theft of a billion euros from banks and have placed the burden of mending this yawning financial hole on citizens’ shoulders. Our rulers have plundered out the Chisinau airport and hundreds of industrial enterprises. With all this, the list of crimes and acts of lawlessness by our pro-European authorities is getting only longer. We must stop all this and bring the responsible to justice! For this reason, we started our protesting. For this reason, we began our struggle for the presidential post”, said the PSRM leader.

Igor Dodon addressed to the members and supporters of various parties.

“I am addressing to DA Platform members and advocates, with whom we suffered cold together in protest encampments in Chisinau, struggling against the oligarchic regime. In due time, we were warning DA leader Andrei Nastase: don't cede the role of protest movement leader to one of the ministers [of education] in the Governments of Filat, Leanca and Gaburici [Maia Sandu]. By now, he seems to have realized his mistake [of withdrawing from the elections in Sandu’s favor] but he cannot correct it now, and has to lag behind Maia Sandu”, said Dodon.

In his opinion, everybody should realize clearly that the candidacy of Maia Sandu is the game played together by the United States and Vlad Plahotniuc, whom Washington has backed on all levels.

Igor Dodon believes that a certain part of DP supporters may vote for him – “the citizens who were in fact hostages to Lupu”.

“I am addressing also to Our Party activists. Your candidate – Dmitry Ciubasenco is a good journalist, but he is not a politician. His chances for victory, and even for reaching the second round, are not great. Meanwhile, our two parties have practically same political and economic goals, and we can well achieve them by working team-like. But now we are approaching the day of consolidated voting. I may well win already in the first round”, stated Igor Dodon.

He addressed also to Moldova’s external partners who, in his understanding, support the incumbent regime in Moldova: “Your efforts are all in vain. The thievish oligarchs will all the same lose”.
