OPPOSITION LEADER REJECTS IGOR DODON’S ACCUSATIONS

07 december, 2016

One of the Right opposition leaders, Deputy Chairman of the political party called Platform Demnitate si Adevar [DA, “Dignity and Justice”] Alexandru Slusari has rejected the accusations made by president-elect Igor Dodon at a news conference on Tuesday – that the Right opposition is allegedly dragging out the recognition of the presidential election results.

In his reply written shortly after the news conference, Alexandru Slusari wrote in social networks that Igor Dodon is acting upon agreement with the First Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Party, the so-called “Executive Coordinator” of the Moldovan ruling coalition Vlad Plahotniuc.

“With his lies, Dodon is trying to smokescreen his inactivity, which is in Plahotniuc’s interests. Dodon is maintaining that his political opponents are delaying his inauguration, though he is perfectly aware of the fact that the Supreme Court has already issued final decisions on all the claims lodged by his electoral rival [Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) Chairperson Maia Sandu]”, wrote Slusari.

The only last litigation, being still examined by the Chisinau Appeals Court, is that launched by the lawyers of the Moldovan diaspora in foreign countries.

“Neither Andrei Nastase nor Maia Sandu have the slightest relation to this litigation. Moreover, diaspora representatives have demanded complete non-interference by politicians into this trial. Dodon is aware of all this, but is lying impudently to shirk responsibility for all what Plahotniuc is doing now”, stated the DA Deputy Chairman.

He stated that if Andrei Nastase had been elected president, he would not be waiting for Constitutional Court’s decision and would start struggle against “this criminal regime” and not against political opponents within the presidential campaign.

“As a president elected by the people, Nastase would address first and foremost to grandpa Timofti, appointed by two oligarchs, with a severe warning that if only the outgoing president dares appoint Plahotniuc’s man as Prosecutor General before his vacating the Presidential Office, he will bear criminal responsibility for this. Simultaneously, Nastase would call the entire Moldovan society to organize massive protesting before the Presidential Office to force Timofti give up his intention to appoint a new Prosecutor General”, believes Alexandru Slusari.

In his opinion, president Nastase would be constantly struggling against growing political repressions including repressions against the activists of Our Party, which backed Dodon in the second round of voting.

“Today, I heard from Dodon only one fairy tale, written definitely not in the Party of Socialists office – the tale of Nastase and Sandu who are allegedly preventing him from struggling against the Plahotniuc regime. All Dodon’s reproaches were against Nastase and Sandu – and not a single word was heard about the political trials going on in Chisinau courts against Usatii, Grincu, Ursachi, Rudenco – and no claims to Plahotniuc whatever”, said Alexandru Slusari.
