MCP CHAIRMAN COMPLAINTS TO AMBASSADOR OF JAPAN AGAINST MOLDOVAN AUTHORITIES’ ACTIONS

07 december, 2016

Ex-President of Moldova, Chairman of the Communist Party MP Vladimir Voronin has complained to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Moldova, Mr. Masanobu Yoshii, against the actions by the Moldovan authorities “that are only leading to aggravation of the already unfavorable socio-economic situation in the country”.

In the course of their meeting on Wednesday, the interlocutors discussed the political and socio-economic situation in the republic and perspectives of the development of cooperation between Moldova and Japan. Vladimir Voronin drew the diplomat’s attention to the deplorable socio-economic situation.

“Moldova has practically no middle class as such, and the population is divided into 99% poor and 1% oligarchs. In all spheres of vital importance – education, social sector, public health, agriculture – one can see degradation and chaos. Prices on essential goods and utility rates grow incessantly, whereas new jobs would not be created. As a result, the number of Moldovans leaving their native country is growing rapidly because they can’t see any perspectives for their development here”, said the ex-president.

In his words, instead of working hard to resolve burning socio-economic problems, the authorities are only aggravating them with their actions, “for instance, by laying the heavy burden of the huge bank fraud on citizens’ shoulders or by their ongoing attempt to impose a devastating new pension reform on the society”.

“The signature in 2013 of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement has also aggravated the domestic situation because Moldova was not ready then and will not be able yet in 10 years to implement the Association Agreement”, stressed Vladimir Voronin.

He emphasized that the Moldovan Communist Party stands categorically against legalization of “the constitutional coup” [return to a direct election of president] and does not recognize the just elected “new illegitimate president” [Igor Dodon, until November 2011 – a high-ranked member of the Communist Party].

“The only chance for Moldova to cease being ‘a captured state’ is to urgently hold a snap parliamentary election”, stated the MCP founder and unchanged leader.

“In his turn, Ambassador Masanobu Yoshii remarked that the supremacy of law and struggle against corruption are essential components for the development of a democratic society”, the MCP press service wrote in its news release today.
