On January 17, Dodon will hold meetings with President Vladimir Putin; with Valentina Matviyenko – Chairperson of the Council of the Federation [upper chamber of the Russian bicameral legislative assembly]; The Russian President’s Special Representative on Transnistria, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin; Russian Federation’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov; with Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Tigran Sarkisyan; Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia His Holiness Patriarch Kirill.

Igor Dodon has been scheduled also to meet with President of the Sberbank [savings bank] of the Russian Federation Gherman Gref, Russian Gazprom Concern President Alexei Miller, and Chess World ex-Champion Anatoly Karpov [Igor Dodon has been heading the National Chess Federation of Moldova for more than 5 years now].

On January 18, President Dodon will hold meetings with Moldovan students receiving higher education in Moscow and with Moldovan labor migrants working in Russia. In the framework of his meeting with the students and professors of Moscow State University of International Relations (MGIMO), Dodon will take part in the presentation of a book on the history of Moldova and will answer the audience’s questions.

Upon his election president last November 13, Igor Dodon stated that his first official visit will be to Moscow. In his words, he must discuss with Vladimir Putin primarily two questions of particular importance – the situation of Moldovan labor migrants and resumption of Moldovan exports to Russia. Dodon voiced confidence he would necessarily manage to resolve the exports problem.
