FSES GATHERS TEACHERS TO PROTEST AGAIN

23 march, 2017

The Trade Union Federation of Education and Science (FSES) is organizing new protest actions in front of the Parliament and the Government on March 23-24, said Federation Deputy Chairman Ion Bulat, though the next round of negotiations with the Government is planned for March 24.

"Pickets will take place due to authorities' reluctance to fulfill main trade unions' demands - the raising of salaries by at least 20%. We were observing the law on suspending protests for the period of negotiations, but it seems that only protests can make the authorities to listen to us. The Friday negotiations will take place, though will be held in parallel with picketing of the Government building", he explained.

As Infotag has already reported, trade unions gathered teachers for rallies on January 17, demanding raising of salaries and decent living conditions for education workers. As a result, the Government created a working group and started negotiations.

Government partially satisfied the demands, in particular, preserved the complete salary to young teachers with reducing of pedagogic burden. But the main demand - the raising of salaries by 50% - has not been satisfied. The FSES stopped negotiations with the Government on March 10, as the authorities agreed to raise salaries only by 10% and starting from the new academic year.
