​MOLDOVAN SOCIETY REMAINS ON POLITICAL BARRICADES AFTER PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION – OPINION POLL

The society is still on political barricades after presidential elections, said Director of the Public Opinion Fund (FOM) Andrei Luchian, who presented the results of an opinion poll, conducted at the order of Timpul newspaper.

He said that the public support is concentrated on two politicians – President Igor Dodon and leader of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) Maia Sandu.

Dodon is supported by 37.5% of respondents, while Sandu – 18.2%. With a great lag, they are followed by “Demnitate si Adevar” [DA, “Dignity and Justice”] Party leader Andrei Nastase – 3.2%, Prime Minister Pavel Filip – 2.9%, Partidul Nostru [Our Party] leader Renato Usatii – 1.4%, DP Chairman Vlad Plahotniuc – 1.3% and Communist Party Chairman Vladimir Voronin – 1.2%.

The anti-rating of trust is headed by Liberal Party leader Mihai Ghimpu – he is distrusted by 71%, Plahotniuc – by 70%, Speaker of the Parliament Andrian Candu – 50%, Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca – 54%. President Dodon and Maia Sandu have the lowest anti-rating indexes – 35% and 44%, respectively.

If parliamentary elections took place next Sunday, 54.2% of respondents, who already decided about their choice, would vote for the Party of Socialists, PAS – 28.2%, DA – 5.6%, DP – 4.3%, Communist Party – 2.6%, OP – 2.5%, European People's Party of Moldova – 1.4%.

According to the poll, 28.8% of respondents would never vote for the DP, 13.9% – for the LP, 12.7% - for the PSRM, 10% - for PAS, 3.9% - MCP, 3.2% – OP, 2.7% – DA.

The opinion poll was carried out among 1,817 residents of 111 various-level populated areas across Moldova (except Transnistria) on March 10 through 19. The pollsters are saying that error should not exceed ±2.3%.
