​PRESIDENT DODON PUBLISHES DRAFT OF THE MEMORANDUM HE WANTS TO SIGN WITH EAES

On Wednesday, Moldovan President Igor Dodon published on his Facebook page the draft of the Memorandum on cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union [of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, EAES] he is going to sign in April.

The draft acknowledges the Sides’ desire to lay a sound basis for cooperation, establish dialog for mutually beneficial cooperation and for broadening and diversification of trade between the EAES member states and the Republic of Moldova.

The document stipulates cooperation directions such as economic integration; trade policy; analysis of economic development and market economy situation in the member states; customs regulation; technical regulation; the using of common sanitary, veterinary-sanitary and quarantine phyto-sanitary measures; tax regulation; financial markets.

The Memorandum presupposes the creation of a joint working group on interaction between the EAES and the Republic of Moldova. The group will have two co-chairpersons. The group’s working meetings will be attended by invited representatives of the state power organs of the EAES member countries. Group meetings at the level of co-chairpersons will be held minimum once a year.

The Memorandum stipulates that it is not an international treaty and it does not create rights or commitments for the Sides regulated by the international law.

Infotag’s dossier: The Memorandum is going to be signed at the international EAES conference to be held in Chisinau on April 3-4. And in May, President Dodon will submit an application for equipping Moldova with the status of an observer in the regional organization.
