VLAD PLAHOTNIUC VISITING USA

17 may, 2017

The ‘executive coordinator’ of the ruling coalition in Moldova, Chairman of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc is visiting the United States.

According to Infotag’s sources in Washington DC, the program of his several-day-long voyage is quite busy. Plahotniuc is scheduled to meet with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Bridget A. Brink as well as other officials from the U.S. Department of State and the Congress. He will have meetings also with the heads of some non-governmental organizations and institutions. He will hold a meeting with journalists, and will give interviews for several internationally renowned media outlets.

The Moldovan Democratic Party headquarters have not yet reported anything about the chairman’s voyage.

The visit was organized by international companies promoting the Democratic Party of Moldova and its leader. In mid-2016, the DP signed an agreement on cooperation with Podesta Group (USA), against which the Moldovan Democratic Party pays Podesta US$600,000 per year. Already in 2016, Podesta organized Plahotniuc’s visit to Washington, during which it was first announced to the world that Vlad Plahotniuc was the executive coordinator of the governing coalition in Moldova.

The Podesta Group was founded by Tony Podesta reputed as a person close to Barack Obama and as one of the influential-most lobbyists in Washington. At the recent presidential election in the United States, Podesta directed Hillary Clinton’s election campaign.

In March 2017, the Moldovan Democratic Party concluded a contract with yet one more American company – Burson-Marsteller specializing in public relations, mass communications and crisis management. In various periods, the company rendered services to the governments of Russia and Romania, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovitch, Argentinean dictator Jorge Videla etc.

The Newsmaker.md publication tried to learn more details about the Democratic Party’s contract with Burson-Marsteller, but company representatives said it was a commercial secret.
