21 june, 2017

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Moldova, Matyas Szilagyi, was decorated with the Republic of Moldova's Ordinul de Onoare, as per the presidential decree signed by the head of state, Igor Dodon.

On Tuesday, the President held a farewell meeting with the diplomat who is accomplishing his mission to this republic.

"His Excellency Ambassador Matyas Szilagyi has always been and is remaining a good friend of our country. I am grateful for your contribution to the development of the Moldo-Hungarian political dialog at various levels, in particular for the organization of my recent visit to Budapest and of my meetings with the President, Prime Minister and Chairperson of the Parliament of Hungary", said Igor Dodon.

In his words, the said visit to Budapest considerably invigorated relations between the two countries. In particular, the parties discussed important projects that may be implemented here in the nearest future with the Hungarian government's assistance.

Igor Dodon stressed that Ambassador Szilagyi, like Hungary as a whole, is a true supporter of the statehood and independence of the Republic of Moldova, that the two countries have a common view on many things, including on regional policy and international cooperation. In Dodon's belief, there are many state-run programs and projects in Hungary that can be implemented in the Republic of Moldova as well. President Dodon expressed gratitude for cooperation and realization of many projects presenting mutual interest in the economic, social and cultural spheres initiated here with the personal support of Ambassador Matyas Szilagyi.
