MOLDOVA USES ALL POSSIBILITIES FOR DEVELOPING DIALOG WITH DIASPORA – DEPUTY PREMIER

Moldova is using any opportunity to develop dialog with Diaspora, said Deputy Premier, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Octavian Calmic at the Friday’s ceremony of opening the Diaspora Days in Moldova.

He said that massive reforms conducted in the country are a kind of shock therapy, necessary for Moldova’s future.

“The moment of complete sincerity between the republic and the Diaspora abroad has come. All the Government’s efforts will be focused on the soonest implementation of the entire package of reforms. Everything necessary will be done in order that Moldovan citizens to come back home and use the experience accumulated abroad in the most important branches of the country”, the Deputy Premier said.

Minister of Education, Culture and Research Monica Babuc said that Diasporas are golden human resources of Moldova, by means of which the republic has the opportunity to adopt best socio-economic models of other countries for creating a strong and prosperous state.

Representative of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation Matthias Leicht said that one-third of the republic’s population is living abroad, which is not only a big social problem, but also a serious obstacle for Moldova’s future.

“However, our agency is successfully cooperating with the republic’s Government for resolving the problems of migrants and Moldova is doing certain success in this direction”, he said.

Moldovan Ambassador to Italy Stela Stingaci said that the Moldovan representation is doing everything possible for supporting their citizens on Apennine Isles. This year, three consular departments were opened in Florence, special courses are organized for children (there are 35 thousand children who emigrated together with parents) for studying Romanian language and culture.

She pointed at serious improvements in the activity of Diaspora in Italy, where besides cultural programs, compatriots are actively involving in public life and participating in volunteer programs.

“Diaspora is developing in two directions – sustainable integration in the Italian society, but at the same time consolidation of forces for preserving national identity”, the diplomat said.

At the ceremony, it was announced about the creation of target groups of Diasporas on branches, which will be cooperating directly with Prime Minister Pavel Filip and his councilors.

Infotag’s dossier: The Days of Diaspora are being held under the auspices of the Government on August 18-20. Within the event, Open Door Days were held in the Government, while on Saturday and Sunday an international ethnic festival Gustar will be held in the Old Orhei, as well as the Diaspora Mini Football Cup will take place.

Over 100 representatives of Diaspora from Russia, Italy, France, Portugal came to Moldova on the occasion of the holiday.
